[re: a box of trash by the door to go to the dumpster…]

“hee go mommy! is happy birthday for you! is a prize for you! [sings quietly] happy day to you… happy… to you… is got bubbles in iiiiiit, is got trash in iiiiit, is got… mo traaash…”

“i love my daddy, mommy.”
[heart meltttt, she’s so good at that!]

b: “i might have to go to the bathroom.” 

madd: “NOPE! not today! maybe when it’s dark out!”

“i look so cute in this shirt! i look like barbie!!”
[i love when she feels pretty!]

b: “God gave me the BEST girl.”

madd: “where is God?”

b: “………….” 

[*i think i said something vague & light about heaven and mentally summoned a lifetime supply of coffee*]

b: “i’m gonna heat up some coffee cake, do you want some?”

madd: “i do want some coffee cake. don’t take a picture of it.”

[uh oh… i think she’s on to me…]

[in bed one morning, she puts her hand on my cheek…]

madd: “i was thinking about you.” 

me: “you were! what about me?” 

madd: “i was thinking about you… my love.”
[…hahahahhaha, okay, princess charming]

[looking out the window as the garbage man pulls up…]

“it’s the trash man, angel,” she gently touches my chin and reports. 😉

“i like your pitty braid, big elsa!” 

[every time i have a braid, i’m “big elsa,” which is maaaybe not quite as cute sounding as when she refers to herself as “tiny anna,” haha.]

“oooh, here’s my eggplant!!”

[she says as she holds up an old blue easter egg]

[in the big bed, maddalena puts her hand on daddy’s face…]

“i sink he is handsome. i sink he is handsome and cute.” <3 <3

“WHERE is my eggplant????? i HAVE to FIND it!!!!!!!”
[she says in an absolute panic, as i realize, mom fail, i’d thrown away her blue easter egg “eggplant” in an effort to quietly de-clutter. it was very quickly replaced with a purple one from the easter stash! gosh, you’ve never known guilt until your child realizes her eggplant is missing and it’s all your fault!]

[walking into my bedroom…]

“you’ve got some pretty pictures. did you organize in here?”
[i mean, where did i get my confidence before she was born?? haha!]

“good morning to you! good morning to you! you look like a monkeyyy, and you smell like… two and a half!”

[she loves singing this with me in the mornings, and she’s just recently figured out that it’s, “and you smell like one, too!” but i liked it the first way, personally!]

[after taking a gummy vitamin and drinking some juice…]

“it tastes good, mommy. i love it when you cook!”

“don’t be silly, i love you!”

[this was her random catch phrase for a night. haha.]

[sitting next to me in bed one evening]
“i love you belly! i love you baby in you belly!”

b & s: “what should we name the new baby brother or sister?” 

madd: “collipeedee.”

b & s: “well… okay.”

[as soon as i open my eyes, waking up one morning…]

madd: “i put my hand in my bottom. wanna smell it?” 

b: “WHAT?!!?!!!??”

[shocking! sooo not a maddalena thing to say! she meant in her diaper… because she had an itch… but… really. oh my.]

[as she holds one of her toy cameras…]

“i’m gonna put my pictures on a big, big, big, big blog!”
[YES!]

“i love you in the whoooooole world!!”
[i love you in the whole world, too, baby!!]

[and as our every-morning coffee conversations evolve…]
madd: “want to get up and make coffee?”
b: “iii’m gonna need it!!”
madd: “well, probably so!!”
[i mean, i just can’t even sometimes with her bits of adult banter! oh, firstborns…]
