life of charmings

love, family, happiness

July 26, 2011 in casey· farmhome· summertime

casey has been getting the celebrity treatment lately…

when you’re a 24 year old horsey gentleman,
you pretty much get the celeb status and do what you want.
casey is a snugglebug, but he is also a star.
[oh, like that time last year we stood in the freezing cold so he could get an equine massage.]
the recent weather has simply been much too hot for his liking
[he is 24. so it frightens me a bit when he’s panting in the midday heat.]
so, lately, this big boy comes up to the barn/spa and gets himself some time
in front of the fan [ahem, two fans] where his hair blows around like a model,
nibbles on juicy carrots, gets a cooling leg bath, and then he sneaks his
1,000 lb body around and sticks his nose where it just doesn’t belong.
and then… we snuggle.

oh, but i am so glad he gets to be spoiled if he wants.
he’s earned it. he’s beyond earned it. [see small example from 10 years back]
and i’m thankful that i have the time once again to spend with him.
this has been the first year, really, since getting married that i haven’t
had a million things on my plate that typically had to come before him.
[school was a big one. thank goodness i finally finished.]

and really, i really, really i love my handsome horsey star.
i want him to teach my future children [someday. not today.]
the same things that he taught me.
you see? this is why i cry when i watch secretariat.
i can hardly contain myself when it comes to horsey love.

so. in other news. i’m running out of lip gloss…
[and! my grandmother’s coming down here to us in nash today! yaaay!!]

he's beautiful. i've always been a little intimidated by horses b/c they are so big but they really are so super sweet. guess i better get over the size thing if i am going to go to africa and play with elephants. 🙂 more on that later!

it is truly amazing the impact animals can have on our lives. They leave their paw prints (or in this case, hoof marks) on our hearts forever.
