italy | venice! oh, venice…

for our final stop in italy, we said our goodbyes to florence and got on a train… and then we got on a boat… and then there we were! venice! what a neat and fascinating place. i will never be able wrap my head around venice. from what i gathered, it’s pretty much a town… built on top of a giant man-made bird’s nest on top of a bunch of islands, made up of little walkways [more like hallways] lined with pretty shops and apartments and with canals full of gondolas. everything there looks exactly like a painting. truly so beautiful. i loved all the colors and drama and artistry of venice. i loved that everyone had a dog with them, even though it seems like it wouldn’t so much be a favorite place for a dog [i mean, where do they potty?]. i loved all the visitors getting fancied up for the opening night of the opera at teatro la fenice. and the atmosphere was just so romantic. we stayed two nights at the duodo palace, did a whole lot of meandering through those town “hallways,” window shopping and always feeling like we were in a big maze, and of course, we took a gondola ride! and no, we certainly did not touch the pigeons in st. mark’s square, although they did seem friendly…













…then, on our last morning in italy,
a nifty little boat came and picked us up at our hotel,
and whisked us away to the airport. and we said arrivederci to venezia
and the most fabulous trip of our lives. until next time, italy!

…and the husband charming took his little italian girl[s] back home
to live happily. ever. after.

    I heard that Venice is the most romantic city in the world after Paris… it sure looks like it through your pictures! 🙂
