life of charmings

love, family, happiness

momfessions

[baking // diaper changing // getting ready // grocery shopping // mama life, amen.]

you know that silly thing they say about losing your head if it wasn’t attached to your body? oh, yeah, that. well, that’s pretty much me these days. so, i need to go ahead and just apologize to everyone i have just completely forgotten to text back/call back/email back. it’s kind of happening a lot lately! wheeeew.
things i used to prioritize: keeping my scarves hanging and organized by color. vacuuming. [vacuuming is my favorite. i vacuumed at 2am while i was in labor.] eating. sleeping in. now it’s like, why sleep when i can wake up to this girl and her amazing little gummy smile? not that i have much say in the matter. so, we have conversations in baby language and eventually we get out of bed. and eventually i have my coffee.

i. need. my coffee.

i went off coffee for the last month that i was pregnant and the first month or so that maddalena was teensy. then when i started drinking it again, i remembered how much better at life i am with a little coffee! so much better.

one day, coffee, i will write you a love song.

i love the way maddalena’s milk breath smells. i do. and yes, milk breath is gross to everyone else. but to me, it’s like puppy breath. so innocent. [i remember back when minnie had cute breath. boy, did that change!]

i specifically did not want this to happen to me, but just recently, i accidentally fantasized about a huge laundry room with shelves and floor space. ugh. i know. but the THINGS i could do with our laundry! i could just slap myself for these thoughts.

also, i now own, um, 10 of those old navy vintage v-neck t-shirts. i love them. so. much. first of all, it’s just amazing that old navy has something i can’t get enough of. and also, if we ever have to live underground due to nuclear war or something, i want to make sure i have plenty of these suckers. then again, i might just go nakes, because when you’re living underground, i’m guessing the rules change a bit? [like when a snowstorm hits nashville and we have no clue what to do but what we do know is that all the rules for driving go right out the window!]

when m sleeps, we watch her and determine that she’s the prettiest person to ever have slept. then, we wonder what she dreams about. steven assumes she dreams about boobs. they are her favorite thing, so i think that it’s likely. i would if i were her. and i know steven would/probably does.
and one more thing, i was checking out at the grocery store last week, when this old, rugged, long-gray-haired man with missing teeth took note of the moby wrap i was wearing maddalena in. then he asked me if i nursed. well, yes i do. so, he says that i could probably just nurse her in the wrap and nobody would know, because his wife used to do that. well, oldruggedlonggrayhairedmanwithmissingteeth, this is not where i saw our conversation going at all!
so anyway. mama life is pretty fun. that girl makes me laugh so much every day and she’s only 3 months old. so, i’m thinking we have a lot of good times ahead of us over here!

ps. i bought the awesomest fridge magnets. super strong. yes, this excites me. it’s the little things, yo.

and these… are my momfessions.

*and as for dad life, this  gets me every time.

Your comments about dreaming about remodeling your laundry room crack me up, but I know that will probably be my life soon.
