life of charmings

love, family, happiness

June 5, 2013 in at home· in the garden· pretty things

oh, cuz, you know, peonies and stuff

recently, my smallest lady and i, we found ourselves in a bit of a love story when we came upon some beautiful peony plants for sale outside the grocery store. there they were, in all their fluffy pink glory… and there we stood, falling in love 500 times over… and then finally, we decided to bring them home with us! well, no, actually, no. we brought one plant home with us and went back for another the next day. because, i thought, why buy just peony blossoms if i could have them growing every year? so, i planted these pretty pink ladies with my best assistant overseeing the process… and, really, i just really want them to live! i want them to live happily ever after on the side of our housey, but i have no idea how they’ll do, because i’ve never been a peony mom before, and well, i’ve had quite a few plants die on me for one reason or another… but hey! so far these babes are doing alright, i think! [don’t worry, i’ve already googled “peonies for dummies” and all kinds of other search queries.]

…and that one prettiest pink lady baby there, well, i’m particularly fond of her!

I LOVE Peonies! Maybe you will be luckier than me but…One tip for you, don't be surprised if they don't bloom for a couple years after this year. Every Peony I have planted took 2-3 years off from blooming before sending up a new bud. I guess their roots like to re-establish to their new location first.
(I'm stoked because this year is my first bud from one of my 3 year old Peonies! Yay!)

    Anyway, enjoy! Peonies are gorgious!

So cute!! Every spring I look EVERYWHERE for peonies (bulbs or plants) and never find it anywhere! I don't know if gets to hot for them here or what… I'm jealous! Wish I could plant peonies too
    🙂

Love Peonies! We have only lived in our house for about 9 months so we were very excited to see that the previous owner had planted some next to our house!
