the wild blackberries that grow all around the farm have been perfect for the pickin’ this week!! my mom and i have been excitedly waiting for those suckers to start ripening, and the time has fiiinally come! so, we did some good old fashioned berry pickin’ tuesday afternoon, and gosh darnit if the really plump, ripe ones don’t go straight in your mouth. so delicious.
[it took her a minute or two, but maddalena was a fan! and ended up happily covered in berry squish]

[…and hey, she’s almost 1… so naturally, she drives now]
oh my gosh, was this day heavenly. heavenly, i tell you!! it was so hot outside, we were practically down to our skivvies by the time we were done [okay maybe not our skivvies], but we went back for more later that afternoon! and then, that evening, i’ll tell you what i did. i went home and made my very first blackberry cobbler! it wasn’t perfect, but it was delicioso indeed.
and that was a good, good day.
[the splinters i pulled out of my fingers were totally worth it.]
[and ps. my cobbler is gone. i ate approximately 94% of it.]
too much cuteness!! i see so many pictures of berry picking! makes me want to go so bad!

Yum-o!! Oregon has crazy amounts of blackberry bushes everywhere. I miss freshly picked blackberries made into a delicious cobbler! Enjoy!
