life of charmings

love, family, happiness

December 5, 2013 in christmas· holidays· m's firsts· maddalena

meeting santa claus went really, really well.

…juuust kidding!!!

but really, this is about how well i pictured it going, haha! which makes me so glad that we didn’t put a lot of effort into the whole visit with santa thing! [we didn’t even attempt it last year. a 4 month old with stranger anxiety? the idea just felt like cruelty!]

we had actually stopped into home depot last weekend on a table-related mission, when one of the ladies that worked there stopped me and said, “did you know santa is here?” and i was all “SANTA IS HERE!!!!” i got all tingly and stuff, and so, in our hats and sweatshirts it became santa day, right then and there.

as we walked up and down the aisles, browsing around for whatever we were in search of, i was mostly just looking for santa claus. and then! we found him! he was sitting on an orange bucket alongside a cute little elf/child toy building workshop. that’s a good idea, santa! it looked like fun! and so we walked on up, at which point maddalena’s face filled with terror and she dove straight into panic mode. ooh, bless that sensitive soul that is our rosebud lady! my heart breaks every time i see her sad face, but this was probably the one time i saw a bit of humor in it, too. these photos are going down in our family history, and i just kind of love them.

anyway, sorry ’bout that, santa!! and thanks for being a good sport about it. i’m sure she’ll soon understand that big red suits and fuzzy white beards are really fun and jolly! i promise that maddalena has been such a “goo’ geewww” all year long. [and she has been sure to remind all doggies that they are goo’ gewws as well!] we will make sure to leave you an extra cookie this year!! all our love to the mrs and the reindeer!

My mom has quite a lot of photos like this one from when I was little. I love looking back through all of them. Get quite a chuckle. So. I guess Santa is pretty used to this sort of behavior. Ain't his first rodeo and all. 😉 Maddo won't hold it against him I'm sure.

Awww how cute! Whenever I see little babies have a panic attack when they see Santa I really can't help but try to cover up my chuckle. It is just too cute. And once they are kids, they just run right on over to Santa and give him a big hug.

I think crying baby Santa pictures are the best. It's just too cute. That first one with you laughing is the best : ) When she's older, M will love that pic!
