life of charmings

love, family, happiness

February 4, 2014 in horses· nature lover· our little fam· pretty things· that's life

sunsetty. like a sunset.

haaaaappy february!!
so. guess what. the chinese new year says it’s the year of the horse! yaaaay! i’ve officially been enabled, woo! and i am thrilled. i love non-life-damaging enablement [‘sthat a word?], so just know that i am probably definitely going to post every horse picture always, ever and be the coolest of all 12 year old girls. consider it done. oh, caaaseeeeey…
also, i think i have 4,000 million photos of sunsets at this point, but the fantastically beautiful God-painted colors of our nashville sunsets amaze me every single time! it’s way too easy for me to miss them when i’m stuck inside in the winter, but lately, i’ve ended up giving casey a couple of evening feedings to some pretty incredible backdrops. totally redeeming of the crazy cold temperatures we’ve been having! one of my very favs happened last week, and voila, more sunsetty photos.
on a less beautiful note, my paranoia and i had a dream recently that birds around our house kept dying because we were using our silly teflon-coated cookware on high heat. you see, this is how constantly burdened i am! i worry when i’m awake, i worry when i’m asleep. and in case you didn’t know… using your nonsticks on high heat really does kill birds. and probably us, so time for new pots and pans, says my subconscious! although, i think the dream is partially because on that sunsetty night, i saw a random dead bird in casey’s pasture. and texted a picture of it to my dad. so, the topic was pretty embedded in my brain.
but speaking of dream things: around 4:30 am in the weeeee hours of last thursday, i was soundly comatose, snuggled up to my tiny girl, when suddenly, i was awakened by the tall fellow that is my husband throwing his whole body up and across the bed sideways, flopping down over top my legs. i was quite startled! and when i opened my eyes i saw him just laying there… across the bed… face down. oh, there was confusion, so much confusion… and after a long minute or so, he moved right on back to his original spot. naturally, i was pretty curious as to what on earth he was doing. like, was he sleep moving? was he waking up early for work but just needed a good, dramatic flail first? i do not speak at 4:30 in the morning, however, so i said nothing and just resolved to ask him about it the next day. so, it was that next evening that i finally asked about the flopping adventure, and he said, “oh! i forgot about that! i must’ve been having a dream, because i could’ve sworn that maddalena stood up and was running to the edge of the bed and i was trying to grab her! then i just laid there a minute because i so relieved.” hahahahaha. well, i did not see that answer coming, but i love it, and i love him so so much. bless his heart, he is subconsciously burdened, too!! hashtag: cosleepingprobz

ps. and just to fully round out this sunsetty sleep topic, maddalena’s 18 month sleeping has been aaaall over the place, and last week she took a three. hour. nap. which. was. craaaaazy! seriously, she’s usually a 30-to-an-hour-and-done kind of napper. just enough time for me to snuggle and send some iEmails or catch up on a show. and there have been plenty of days where she just skipped it all together, but three hours! i know this is supposed to be mom heaven, but i was so not prepared. it was bo-ring, i won’t lie. i mean, i’m sure if i had a regular napper, one who happily and safely napped in a crib, i would have big ole plans for nap time! oh and also, if we had soundproof walls, hey! i would party. but right now? a three hour nap… well, that just looks a little too much like me checking every last thing on my iphone for way too long, trying and failing to fall asleep myself, then sneaking out from our bed-cuddle by that third hour to walk back and forth and back and forth from the bedroom to the kitchen, shoveling handfuls of granola in my mouth and checking to see if she’s awake so we can go to the grocery store. and definitely not doing anything that made any noise. soooo. that was the day that i became the first mom to ever not love a three hour nap.

pps. when bff april and i did our christmas gift swapping a few weeks  post-christmas [waaay too late, but life!], we both gave each other forever21 loungewear decorated in coffee references. that is true friendship right there, and i have to say, it’s really unlikely that i’ll ever need to ever change out of my “i need coffee” tee! shoot, i just went to the f21 web site and now i want all of the lounge items. too cute, too cute!

okay, well, raaaaaise your hand if you’re glad it’s february!! hand hand hand! i can already feel the love. oh yeah! that’s what i love about february… more enabling! pink and hearts and sparkles and love and not a single dot of shame. already pinked my fingernails. i’m ready!

*remember in baby mama when amy p. says tina fey’s aura is “sunsetty. like a sunset.”? thaaat’s my fav..

I love this post. You definitely gave me the giggles a few times. I love the horsey pics so yay you'll keep them coming! I always had a dream I would own a horse. I shall live vicariously through you. Speaking of horses and my youth have you ever watched Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken? Just introduced it to Letty and she loves. The horses I mean.

I also have a husband who moves at night although nothing as sweet as yours. More like pretending to run or WAKING up his daughter at 3 am. Fun things. Sarcastically speaking.

Three hour naps can be very alarming. I'm lucky to have the older one to occupy me. I would not blame you one bit for waking her up though.

Andddd…. I want that shirt. Annndd I just gave Letty a pink pedi. Naturally.

Oh my goodness that is just about the funniest dream ever! But, still so sweet! My hubs is a sleep talker, it's hilarious! And yay for taking a long nap M! Weird, because Scarlett took an hour nap which is record breaking and the last 30 minutes I've just been twiddling my thumbs! Haha, happy she's up so now we can go buy flowers!!
