yaaaay, maddalena!! three! years! old!
seriously? i can haaardly believe it! but… i can, actually, because this girl is waaay too smart and grown up these days!
i’m pretty ridiculously proud of my wonderful little human here, and i wanted her birthday to just be a really perfect day all about her. we’d been talking about her birthday for months by the time it rolled around, so i knew her perfect day would involve a few specific things, based on her requests! which were: 1. pink, purple, gold, and white; 2. a chocolate chip cookie cake; 3. birthday lights [ideally pink or purple]; 4. streamers/ribbons. well, that sounds pretty perfect to me!
so, naturally, we started the day by opening one of her gifts! and after our whooole daily routine [oh, you know, newborn things, coffee, a few eps of strawberry shortcake], we got all prettied up and headed to the farm for some official birthdaying.

[m’s birthday dress thanks to strasburg children here in nashville! every detail of it is so beautiful, and the quality is something you just don’t find every day anymore. madd picked the lavender number to go perfectly with her birthday colors… she was so excited to wear it! and gosh, i love when she feels beautiful.]
[“can i take some pictures?” she asked all sweetly, as she likes to do! no birthday request was turned down, of course… and hey! i’d say those skills of hers are really coming along!]
[special appearance by queen elsa! thanks to amazon sending my brother the wrong thing, ha! but she was a veryy welcomed party crasher. festive decor courtesy of my mom’s amazing last-minute skills, and mooost of that cookie cake was definitely my mom just following my instructions to follow maddalena’s instructions. 😉 oh, i love my peeps.

[happy birthday to you! happy birthday to you!! also, the gold M balloon!! i’d ordered it off of amazon, then had it blown up at the grocery store… but minutes later, i looked up and it had come unattached and floated waaay up to the ceiling of the store, at which point the employee next to me offered ze-ro help and i just gave up. but! my daddy snuck over two days later and had them get it down! yayay!! best daddy/papa ever award. ps. that licking-the-plate look of elation? thaaat’s the best.]
[…and then came the nifty gifties, of course. a couple of wardrobe changes ensued!]
and so! thanks to a spot-on color scheme, some ridiculously beautiful end-of-july weather, and lots of love [and presents, of course ;)] from both of our families, maddalena had the very best day! she was so thrilled all day long, excited to celebrate and excited to grow up a little. now she keeps saying, “can you believe i’m three years old?!” i love it, baby girl!!
we are so so thankful for the joy and love and beauty she brought to this earth three years ago when she joined us, and there’s absolutely nothing better than seeing her happy! we are thankful, too, for everyone who loves our baby girl with us, because she deserves every single smidgen of it all. 🙂
yesterday morning she asked, “am i still three years old?” yes ma’am, indeed!! and i think it’s gonna be a really fabulous year!

This day is perfect from start to finish! She has quite the good taste with her color theme, she must get it from her mama. These photos are amazing! I love love love the family shots. And yes girl I wanna lick the plate too and sometimes I do. Oh how lucky she is to have such supportive family around! Yay for three!
