a perfect pool day! [with janie and jack!]

since last weekend, it has started getting so so hot and humid here in nashville!! and you know, when the temps are nearing 100, it can pretty much mean only one thing… pool day! yay yay!

aaand okay, sure, i know, any sunny day ideally means pool day potential to me. 🙂 but! when it’s that hot? it’s kind of mandatory! however, now that we have little ones, there are definitely a few more steps involved in a pool day than there once were. i mean, i can no longer just hop on a float and close my eyes for a few hours. but that’s okay! this is my faaavorite, favorite time of year and i love nothing more than sharing it with my babies. gosh, i just love my people!

sooo, this is my trusty checklist to prep for a pool day with the little ones…

–snazzy swim outfits! swimsuits, rashguards, and sunnies, of course! janie and jack currently has THE cutest array of swim attire for tiny ladies and gents. i have loved the quality and style of their clothing sooo much throughout both of my little ones lives so far… and they were kind enough to send us some adorable swimwear for this hot, wonderful season! i seriously cannot get over my babes in their swimsuits with their matching sunglasses. like, tiny sunglasses on rocco for the first time!! oh, that boy. i absolutely melt! and i know i’m maybe a little bit biased, but i kiiind of think my maddalena girl is an old fashioned movie star in her vintage-cut swimsuits!

–easy snacks. madd’s go-to poolside treat lately is apple slices dipped in peanut butter! doesn’t that sound amazing? also, frozen grapes are another easy and refreshing option! and hey, if all else fails… pouches for all! ha! okay, maybe just pouches for the kids, but we seriously don’t go anywhere without a slew of them in my bag, and every child seems to love them! our favorites are ella’s. 🙂

–plenty of water! a double-walled, vacuum insulated water bottle is the only way to go! maddalena loves hers.

–non-toxic sunscreen. i love to protect my babies’ precious skin! however, rubbing crazy chemicals on them is not my cup of tea. we’ve happily used supergoop! for a few years now.

–floats! we have quite an array, at this point, of adult and baby floats… and this year i’ve brought a giant swan into the mix! you’re soooo welcome, cabana boy! aka. my dad. aka. sorry, dad. haha. but hey, nothing like snaggin’ a little in-pool swan snuggle with your loves! i mean, steven and i totally had a swan date there for a handful of minutes. 😉

…then! another day, another afternoon float, another adorable swimsuit. such is life! oooh, how i love life in the summertime. <3
