i LOVE christmas cards!
this is seriously the only time i look forward to checking the mail… and i’ve *become* someone who loves sending them, too! i love finding the perfect one [hopefully with a nice discount… these suckers aren’t cheap!] and i usually end up framing one for our home. they make me so so happy to send and receive… i actually ran out of cards this year for the first time ever! woops! probably because ours was a combo baby announcement/christmas card… but still. i usually have like 10 left over!
anyway… i recently heard someone mention that we all just throw them away after christmas, and my heart broke a little. i mean… i know that’s true for the most part! but, i pictured my family photos in a dumpster… my baby’s photo! and i know it’s just paper, but it truly made me sad. haha.
but! a few years ago, i had an idea and it’s something i’ve been doing instead of throwing out everyone’s beautiful memories… i punched holes in the corners of the cards from that year and tied them together in a little bundle that i can easily flip through! i’m sure there are a bunch of great ways to save christmas cards, but this is what i’ve been doing. it makes me so happy to pull them back out every year!
what do you do?! throw them out? should we start including a pre-stamped return envelope in case you want to send them back after the holidays? haha! that might be awkward… but… i’m not against it. 😉
I have to admit….I didnt do them this year… and I don’t feel all that terrible about it! lol I love getting them and I love the idea of sending them but it somehow never happened this year!
it’s nice to take a break from it!! i’ve had so many years of not doing them!! these days i think i partially do it so i can just have a fancy printed photo every year, ha!
I never throw away cards and I have them to look at every year too!

Oh I hate to throw the photos away! I have ribbon that I tape to my kitchen cabinets and as a new card comes in I just put it on top of last year’s card and so on. With a clothespin. I love seeing all the smiling faces in my kitchen! And then the cabinets look like packages!
