you know how amazing those days are where you just put on your swim suit first thing, throw on your cover up before you head out, and then spend the whole day splashing and basking and wearing nothing but that? gosh, i love those days. we had a couple of those days while in sea island! and one of those days was especially glorious. the sun was beaming. we beached. we lunched. and oh, we basked. in sun. and sea air. and happiness.
and after the perfect afternoon where all four moms even had a little pool hour while all four babies napped at the same time [they were that exhausted!!], we headed back out and let the babies play on the beautiful beach club lawn a little, and all the while, we mamas donned our cute and comfy cabana life cover ups! i am kind of in love my little striped number, and i love the fact that it can be worn as a cover up or a dress. also, we were totally four coordinating moms with four coordinating babies, and my goodness, if that isn’t a page right out of the book of brittany’s imaginary dream life! but anyway, the fabulous people at cabana life also sent along some chat questions for us to share about our fun trip!
CL: it must be fun to get together with women whose lives are so like your own, on such gorgeous neutral ground! how did you pick sea island, and what are your plans for your time together?
B: it was so much fun! and i think all four of us agreed that we’d each needed some time like that, quality time with girls that are all pretty much in the same place in life… each of us a wife and mama of one! morgan vacations regularly at their family home on sea island, and when she invited us out to visit we were so excited! plans involved sunshine, beachwear, baby snuggles, girl talks, and wine! also, four mamas of little ones are pretty much on the same page with the “no-plan plan,” which is so nice.
CL: you all have very active lifestyles, what are your biggest challenges trying to balance your blogging life with your parenting?
B: well, maddalena is currently sitting on my lap as i type, happily playing with my computer power cord, haha! but generally, whether we’re out or at home, i spend my time playing and interacting with her, and that’s my priority… so, if she naps for any amount of time i’ll maybe organize some photos on my laptop and work on a blog post, or sometimes after she and her daddy have fallen asleep at night and i’m the last one up [i love being the last one awake in a cozy house!] then, i’ll work on a thing or two before i get in bed. also, if there’s anything i don’t want to forget as i’m going throughout a day, i’ll make a little note in my iphone! because i know my brain probably won’t hold on to that thought very long on its own.
CL: what are the top conversation topics between you four, as you come together for the first time?
B: i think one of the first things i said to the other girls as i first arrived was “i can’t believe y’all are real!!” they said the same and we laughed and hugged and four new friendships were born right then and there! and you know what you talk about with your girlfriends… everything! but for us, of course, lots of talk of our pregnancies, births, and babies… hmmm, also, natural health, home life, a little celebrity gossip, and maybe a few confessions were shared!
CL: the beach is a great vacation when you have young kids, but it is not without its… manual labor! what are your keys to a flawless beach holiday – for the kids, yes, but mostly, for you?
B: hmmm, well, you’ve gotta have sunglasses for mommy, a sunhat for baby, and a healthy sunscreen. i always bring along some little toys and knick knacks for maddalena to play with while we’re out, and a little wine for mommy at the end of the day never hurt anything! also, cute swim suits for everyone… obviously! [the little monogrammed swimsuits all the babies got from two sisters embroidery are pretty much life changingly cute. i want maddalena to wear hers every day, basically.]
[oh, that child of mine! i seriously can’t get enough of her standing on her own two baby legs and wearing those ruffles. i am kind of obsessed with her! ]
