life of charmings

love, family, happiness

October 30, 2013 in fall· farmhome· happiness· horses· our little fam

farmhome farmsitting! aka. the panda hat chronicles ;)

over this last weekend, i ended up on a little impromptu staycation, if you will, at the farm while my parents spontaneously hopped a flight up to pittsburgh to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday. [happy birthday pappap!!! we send our love!] and you know what? it was so nice!! i mean, aside from the fact that maddalena was having ma. jor. teething pains [molars, oh em geeeee], but actually, letting her spend so much time outdoors with all the animals was the best ever distraction for her.

so, it’d been quite a while since i’d done some good ole farmsitting, but farm chores! they are my kinda chore, really. when i was younger, after we’d gotten the little ole farmy, my chores were mainly centered around the horses and the barn… but they never felt so much like chores to me because i was, for the most part, perfectly happy doing it all! and if you gave me the option now, iiii would sooo much rather head out to muck or feed than empty and load a dishwasher! but, ha, i don’t have much of a choice there these days, now do i? πŸ˜‰

anyway! that being said, my peeps work super hard around that place, and whew! i give my full appreciation! but my little lady-helper and i really enjoyed taking over all the daily tasks for a few. plus, my brother was there for a little, my husb was there for a little, pizza was there for a little… and then, you know, there’s not much better than waking up to coffee with a view of the horses.

[breakfast time for duckies!!]

[feeding my mommy’s horse, doc]

[a pretty view on a pretty evening with my fav handsomes! cheers to that. oh yeah. we brought wine.]

[oh, my beauty boy, casey]

[maddo takin’ daddy for a drive! seriously. she’s a natural, i tell ya!]

[melt melt melt my heart!!!! i mean, heart melted. soul, too. steven jokes
sarcastically that he never hears me say that, but sorry that i’m always melting.]

[our handsome comet!]

[pizza, wine, and football. um but minus the football for me, thanks.]

[some hungry donkeys, ready for their hay]

[some civil war mule shoes found on the farm! one of my very fav things is the old relics we find. farmy
was once a little civil war spot for some union soldiers, with the confederates hangin’ across the river!]

oh, maybe you’d think i would be a little over it by now, but over farmhome?! i don’t think that’s a thing that can be done… because ooh, the history and memories and a big ole chunk of my heart named casey… well. it’s my fav.

also, it must be noted that when you’re headed out in the chill to feed animals and other such  things, uggs are a foot’s best friend. like, really, no fashion debate there. because as my father says with his beautiful word pictures, haha, “it’s like having a little lamb wrapped around each foot.” hashtag uggs for life. but, i mean, i’m not saying wear them to the symphony or fashion week. πŸ˜‰ okay. see ya!

Oh there's nothing like being on a farm to get you grounded! My dad lives on land and we just love going to see him and the horses. There's something so peaceful about the whole thing!

Okay I love all of these pictures. I grew up spending a good amount of time on my grandpa's farm, so I can relate to all of this!! I loved feeding the horses and collecting the eggs especially! πŸ™‚ So many fond memories. So sweet that you get to share them with your little M! Also, can we talk about that panda hat? Because, she is the cutest in it! Where did you find it?? Babies in hats are the best thing ever. oh and p.s. I am with you 100% on the uggs. I don't know why people hate on them so much. I love them dearly. Always and forever.

How fun for your little Fam!
When my Parents went away my Sister and I would stay with a Family in our Church that had primarily sheep & chickens. I have *so* *many* *good* memories of "chores", feeding lambs, and climbing hay bails πŸ™‚

All little girls should grow up on horses. I swear Cheerio (my horse) is the main thing that kept me out of trouble in High school. No time for shenanigans when you are mucking out a stall. πŸ™‚ (I spelled shenanigans wrong in the first comment attempt.)
