finally, we have an excuse to go trick or treating again!! yaaay!
hello, halloween 2013! after a few years of handing out candy for halloween [which we had fun doing, but obviously we’d forgotten how much better trick or treating is!], we snazzied ourselves up this year and took our bambina ballerina trick or treating with some fun neighboring friends… and forgot all about the fact that it was actually november 1st!
it was just an intro year for maddalena, really… trick or treating 101. and i’d say she was intrigued! but wasn’t all over it just yet. so, i felt like kind of a weasel, going up with her and getting the goods, because she definitely doesn’t eat candy… but hey, someone’s gotta show her the ropes! 😉
and oh, the sight of my baby girl all dolled up in a tutu!! well you know i just melt…
i was also pretty set this year on not spending much, if any!, money on halloween costumes. my mom was always really good at being creative about our costumes growing up, and i want to be that way with our kids. so! maddalena was a ballerina [using the birthday tutu i made her this summer!], i was a dancer going to ballet class because i want to be a ballerina like maddalena, and steven was macho man randy savage [apparently men know who this is, but he was new to me!] using a hilarious costume he put together himself [so proud!] for a dress up competition at his office last year!
we had a blast and ended the evening at a fun little halloween gathering right next door at our new neighbors’ house [they were the adorable scooby, shaggy, & mama/baby kangaroos!]. we are excited to have new next door neighbs that we like a lot, because hoooow great is socializing, like, 10 steps from your own house? we think it’s pretty terriff so far. oh, that’s right! it’s terriff. and so was halloween. yay, november 1st halloween success!
aaaaaand on to more holidaying, we go!!

I love your costumes! She is the perfect little ballerina. And my first thought with your husband's costume was Catching Fire – maybe because it hits theatres this month and I'm re-reading the book, so it's on the brain!!
