life of charmings

love, family, happiness

a happy little mothers day

my requests for mothers day this year: coffee! and to play with my horsey. the coffee request was really more like a, “perhaps you will maybe make my coffee in the morning?” suggestion kinda thing but without saying all those words. i mean, clearly coffee is an every day thing in my book. and a lot of the time, well, so is my horse. so, big requests, huh! i’m really keeping everyone on their toes around here. haha.

anyway! i indeed woke up on my second official mother’s day to coffee and my handsome husb fixin’ some of the puffiest fluffiest pancakes i have ever seen. oh my my my, they were delicious! then later, i went and spent some time in the afternoon sunshine with my horsey and my baby girl and my own mommy dearest and we made clover chains and picked some four-leafers because obsessive behaviors die hard. and it was so wonderful!

it’s pretty crazy and so fun to me that i was no longer a first timer this year! i mean it’s all fun. firsts are fun. but then it continues to be fun. and on a day like mother’s day, i don’t really need a gift. it just feels so so nice to be with my people and relax and feel loved on and appreciated… because in my almost two years of motherhood, i’ve worked really darn hard. i have. and it’s the good hard! amazingly good. but there’s no denying that motherhood shakes things up a bit. it requires that you spread yourself thin. it causes you to reevaluate your priority list, putting yourself mostly last… and funnily enough, you want it that way. it keeps you worrying, keeps you praying, keeps you flexible. ish. it keeps you trying to get more oxygen in your lungs. and more coffee in your cup! and maybe not for everybody, but for me? it keeps me happy. what a blessing to have little eyes and ears and mouths around to keep you in tune with the things that are most important in life!

and maddalena, gosh, she is just the very best little person. she’s better than anything i could’ve ever dreamed up. i am constantly in awe of her and ridiculously thankful to be hers forever and ever. also, i’m going to snuggle her even when she’s 40 and i do not care if her husband thinks i am the worst, i really, really don’t. it’ll be worth it. her snuggles are made of magic.

it’s a pretty solid deal, the whole motherhood thing. i had absolutely no clue what it would be like before our little lady came around, and i definitely didn’t know i would have so much joy and sparkle in my every day! i should’ve known, though! because my mom told me i would love it. i learn all my best things from that woman. i am grateful every day to have such an amazing mother whose guidance and prayers are so constant. moms, you know! we sure wouldn’t be here without ’em, would we. 😉

another mother’s day down, and i’m looking forward to so many, many more. thanks for making me feel loved, my people! it means the whole world.

I need a clover crown making tutorial. Flower crowns on little babes are just about the sweetest thing. Your Mother's Day sounds just about right.
