life of charmings

love, family, happiness

May 28, 2010 in husband· little lists· love· marriage

notable husbandy qualities: a brief guide. [i love my husband.]

there are many, many reasons why i love my husband. he’s just great, and over the past 7 years i’ve formed a pretty sizable list! there are a few key qualities that i think every girl should look for in a husband, and my dear prince steven charming exemplifies them quite nicely, if i do say so myself. allow me to highlight some of his most recent and recurring displays of ideal husbandry:

1.) he has a job. [okay, obviously. we made sure of this before we wed.] but this is not just any job, it’s a constructiony man career with an office! that’s right. he’s a provider. and aren’t his 2 monitors and framed diploma so official? bonus: his phone has lots of buttons and the rest of his office is filled with papers and words i don’t know. if you’re like me, you like that in a man.

2.) he’s a grillmaster. a really really good one. everything he grills is seasoned in deliciousness and cooked to perfection. not to mention, it really comes in handy on those pretty days that distract wifey from her meal planning. seriously. girls, find a man who loves to grill. it will save your life. and make your tummy happy.

3.) he’s a cute sleeper. this is not something ordinarily taken into consideration when it comes to ideal male qualities, but i think it’s important. men sleep… and chances are you will witness their sleeping fairly regularly as a wifey. after all that providing and grilling, they are plumb worn out! when stevo sleeps he looks all cuddly and sweet. looking at that face, you’d never expect it to furl up and scold you over a few extra dollars extracted from the bank account! what an angel.

4.) he’s a natural at disaster recovery. floodiness in our case. when it comes to threatening situations, prince charmings are really in their element. they’re always ready to swoop in and save their lady in distress from big dragon floodywaters or any of his disastrous dragon friends. and if they don’t know how to execute all their valiant tasks, they will learn how. this is the same reason girls love edward cullen. creepy men following you down an alley? no prob, edward’s right there to zoom in and snatch you away in his silver volvo. we haven’t yet encountered that particular problem in our relationship, but let me tell you, husband here does wonders with a shop-vac and 4 gallons of mold-killing bleach spray.

other wonderfully husbandy qualities of his include [but are not limited to] a high tolerance for my obsessive iphone picture taking, the ability to acquire a nice tan [despite scottish heritage], an astounding amount of self-discipline, an affinity for math, superb cuddle skills, and he always smells nice. plus he looks great in a suit and can reach high places. but ultimately, the most important husband requirement is love [which he has lots of]. so if your prince charming is a vegetarian.. or has weak arms.. that’s okay. as long as he makes you feel princessy.

aaaaand voila. they lived happily ever after!
