remember that one episode of the office where pam and a few others form the “finer things” lunch club to discuss… the finer things? thaaat was the best. well, alright, a whole lot of that show was the best, wasn’t it? but i really wanted to be in that club because i like to share about finer things, too. so! i hereby… whatever whatever… the meeting of the finer things club [charmings chapter] shall now commence! and please, have some more coffee! oh, yes, yes, i could use another cup myself…
a few of my favorite finer things as of late…
beegie adair is a jazz pianist that i just absolutely cannot get enough of now that i know about her. i have a pretty wide range when it comes to music that i love, but most often when i’m at home, especially in my kitchen, i like my background to be filled with sinatra tunes, harry connick, jr. diana krall, and the like… and lately also! the talented beegie adair. she has the most beautiful piano renditions of pretty much all of my favorite songs from before my time, and gosh. it’s all just fabulous. her tunes make me want to sip champagne and wear fancy jewelry, and you know, i just might do that one day when i really have no reason to! also, it’s the sweetest world war II veteran who we always see when we’re down at the beach who’s told us about her several times, now [and i have a feeling he will continue to mention her, because something about us being from nashville always reminds him!], because he just adores her music and has even heard her play live [in nashville! yes, that’s it, that’s what reminds him!]. so, this last time he mentioned her to us, i made sure to look her up, and sure enough, her music is of the very finest things. aaand so, i’ve put together a little playlist of some of my favorite songs by ms. adair. 🙂
by the way, i have been in the market for a new record player for a while ever since the most precious little hands i know accidentally broke my last one… my mommy has the cutest crosley, and it is officially on my wish list! [they also make it in pink, so tempting!]
now, the fine-ness of this probably seems debatable, but i don’t watch much television these days, and when i do i feel pretty selective about what i want to use entire minutes of my attention on! and so, i really, honestly love when we sit down and stream a few episodes of comedians in cars getting coffee by jerry seinfeld. love it! i mean, add coffee to anything and it’s a bit finer, right? i think it’s all kind of brilliant. so, each episode features jerry seinfeld himself, driving a unique automobile, picking up a comedian friend, and taking them to coffee. then they chat. and they discuss things! i mean, coffee dates are really one of my favorite scenarios in life… and since they’re comedians, they do it pretty humorously. but it’s not always hilarious, either… it’s also just really interesting to listen to them talking as friends and comedians! there are a lot i haven’t seen, but some of my favorites episodes have been larry david, david letterman, and tina fey! oh! and sarah jessica parker! she’s not really a comedian, but man, do i relate to her sometimes.
also, i am so in love with almost everything duchess kate middleton puts on her body. i seriously can’t keep myself from clicking when photos are posted of her out and about… especially that australian tour they just did! loved every bit of that. and honestly, i don’t even know if it’s always her dresses necessarily, but also the fact that i really love how she clothes herself from clavicle to kneecap [true duchess form!], yet she still shows off her adorable figure, looking gorgeous and fit and never at all frumpy. she does it so flawlessly, and i think it’s really inspiring. i hope that she can be an inspiration to girls everywhere, because let’s be honest, we have way too many ladies showing way too many lady parts in the world these days! anyway, some of her ensembles that i have most adored recently have been the lace alexander mcqueen, the rocksanda ilincic dress, the lk bennett blue dress, and the zimmermann eyelet easter dress… and oh yeah, baby george! gosh, melt me to a little puddle with that sweet little prince!
