life of charmings

love, family, happiness

June 25, 2014 in confessions· momfessions· mommyhood· that's life

momfessions IV

so, i sometimes have to draw friends on madd’s magnadoodle to sit with us over coffee… but then they get maimed.
and guess what else? our christmas coffee cups have officially been deemed year-round appropriate. by the queen! queen bee. queen me. because they’re big and hold a lot of coffee and i liiiiiiike THAT!

also, recently, i’ve realized slash admitted that my favorite time of day is pretty much when i’m all snuggled up and cozy in bed… everyone’s asleep around me… and i can just browse amazon on my iphone and add things to my cart. first off, i really loooove being the last person awake and seeing my sweeties all lookin’ like peaceful angels. and… what a dream, that amazon shopping, right! and then i maybe get on pinterest and look at pretty things. and then i remember all sorts of things to google! i get all informed and stuff. i mean, iphones!! i love them. because… back in the day, you just snuggled up and stared at the black ceiling until you fell asleep. but that’s just terrible. and back in my day, i just picked up my huge laptop and heated my lap into a fireball until i was sleepy. so, iphones in bed? i’ll allow it. well, iphones in my bed. for me. [just adding this as a note to my one day pre-teen children.]
sometimes i just cannot believe that my innocent almost-23-month-old baby has a favorite tv show or two, a raging passion for pizza and pasta, a vocabulary that includes exclamations such as, “oh gosh!” and “oh, shoot!” and a 2nd birthday just around the bend!! i mean, what?! i seriously feel like she is a teenager! oh, and she told us last night that her favorite friend is joey. funny, because he’s my favorite, too!

but on that note, maddalena has a major celebrity crush, okay. his name is curious george. i really really didn’t want to jump into the letting my baby watch tv thing… but somewhere around 18 months, we started with some CG [in our house, steven and i have to call it CG… in code… if we don’t want to remind her that she wants to watch it obsessively 24/7], and she is… in love, basically. we talk about george all the time around here. “djoje,” she says. and i seriously think that show is hilarious. am i a toddler at heart? probably, yes. i think toddler life is the most fun.

all that to say! we’ve watched a lot of george. [i thiiink baby girl inherited my totally obsessed obsession gene. you do not want to see my “hanson notebook” from my younger days, okay. actually, you do. it was a beautiful prize. a 4 inch binder of glory. and it was accidentally destroyed in the flood of 2010, which is probably good in the long run? but let’s just say i was grounded from our family printer in middle school for using a whole ink cartridge on the printing of copious amounts of hanson photos in the name of love. and i legitimately worried that one day when i married zac hanson i would either have to destroy the notebook or explain it to him. dodged that bullet, huh!] so, in all our curious george watchings, i’ve started to really wonder about the man in the yellow hat. he’s george’s “man,” you see. and, okay, first i’m like, “what on earth is his occupation?” he always wears his head to toe yellow outfit with his yellow boots and that yellow hat. somehow i figure he’s a fire marshal? is that what a fire marshal wears? sounds about right for a job that seems to entail often telling people in buildings how many humans can fit inside a room. also, in one episode, the man says he has to go “crunch some numbers.” so, i don’t know! makes sense to me! anyway, so i get to thinking on his whole lifestyle. and, like, why is he single?? he’s super nice. he’s an animal lover. he’s always helping people. he has a house in the country and an apartment in the city… hello! he’s a real catch! but no woman?? just a man living alone with a monkey? and i’m sure he’s gotta be at least… 30! right? uhh, curious indeed! then it dawns on me… he’s in love with his female “friend” PROFESSOR WISEMAN!!! he’s gotta be. i just know it. i mean, she’s not thaaat cute, but she’s really smart and nice. the man is always doing things for her and visiting her at work and giving her gifts and taking her on picnics! duh. so, naturally, i googled “man in the yellow hat in love with professor wiseman” and it seems i am not alone in my speculation! [guess i should look up his occupation next!] so, if your baby watches jdoje… do you feel me or do you feel me?

unrelated: i got some of those kids multivitamin gummies at the store, and then i ate most of them. they’re like candy. because they are candy. vitamin candy.

and breaking news: i was going through photos just today, and found a really embarrassing array of k.stew/r.pattz twilight pictures on my laptop. “this is ridiculous!” i thought to myself. and then i looked at them. and now i kind of want to reread it? #teenmom #embarrassedfaceemoji

well, off to the post office we go! END SCENE!

Best rambling post either. We're like brain twins…thinking the same thoughts.

And I'm going to be honest, I still friggin love Hanson. I went to their concert last October and I'm not exaggerating it was the best concert I've ever been too. I also drank some of their beer Mmmhops{yes it true} and it was amaze. ALSO even though we're all like 30 now and have like a cajillion kids between us, I'm pretty sure I'd still marry any of them.

I really love the whole Man in the Yellow Hat speculation. I have those same kinds of thoughts frequently regarding other fascinating shows. And yeah I kinda reread Twilight every now and then too. No shame! Gives me something other than staring at the glow in my phone to do.

My favorite friend is Ross. I seem to be the only one though lol. He's so overly dramatic, its funny to me! Joey comes in second. xx

I might be posting this twice…but I stumbled upon your blog via Sarah Tucker's blog. Your paragraph about CG is cracking me up – I have the same thoughts! I have an almost 20 month old daughter who is crazy for George and especially loves the episodes with Gnocchi the cat.
