so, casey’s birthday was last week… my horsey boy turned T-W-E-N-T-Y N-I-N-E!!
each year, i’m even more excited to make yet another year of his long, cherished life official. he changed my own life for the better 19 years ago [whoa!], and the blessing he continues to be to me and my family after all these years is just incredible. i’m pretty sure he’s the most wonderful and adored equine on this whole planet. and stubborn, let us never forget stubborn! it’s a frustrating yet admirable quality, i say. i like an independent mind. 😉
anyway, when we first got casey, my grandfather, mom’s dad, was very ill, but so excited for me… he called him “casey the wonder horse!” and even got to meet him before he passed away. how sweet to look back on that, now, because wonder horse, indeed!! 29 year old wonder horse! he must’ve just known. 🙂
i have a little tradition of visiting mr. casey out in the pasture with goodies for his birthday each year. this time, maddalena and i even made sure to don the appropriate accessories and outfits. and okay, really, she is so my child. that morning, as i was pulling out my box of little casey things from over the years [like jewelry i made when i was 11!], she came running up wearing her own equestrian themed everything, saying “mommy! if we’re going to go visit casey for his birthday, i want to wear this!” gah. i love her!
aaand this year, sweet baby rocco joined us, too!!
