house peeks: a big girl bedroom for a sweet little princess!

oh, my sweet little lady in her very own big girl bedroom! i have so loved making this room all hers and seeing her grow to love it. moving was not at all easy on her, and for a long time she missed everything “old house.” gosh, i had tremendous guilt about it! but that only fueled my desire to make that space totally and completely her very own haven and safe place.

anyway, i’m pretty sure there will always be more i want to do and work on in every room, but we just recently added a few more finishing touches that have really helped this little princess room feel complete! for a while, i wanted to do a bed crown with curtains over her bed… but i had also been in love with the idea of oversized roses for her wall, and wasn’t quite sure how i could tie that in. i felt like i was trying to formulate a vision for the space over her bed for sooooo long, honestly! in a way that felt like her and wouldn’t break the bank, either, you know? additionally, maddalena had been dreaming of a bedside table for months, so i had my eye out for that, too…

then finally! finally! in one single day, we stumbled upon oversized wall roses on sale at michael’s and a solid wood pink-painted bedside table at our favorite antique shop!! and would you just guess what they sold that to us for??? * t h i r t y * dollars!! that’s it! that’s it! which seems like absolutely nothing after you spend an evening online perusing the cheapo stuff they make these days, then sell for literally hundreds of dollars! oh, m was sooo excited. she’s really been taking such pride in her little room, and that just makes me so happy! <3

we’ve all grown into our space here so much in the last year, and it’s been fun. frustrating! but fun. not perfect! never perfect. this house isn’t new nor was it really kept up with in many, many ways. there’s quite a cornucopia of details that i’m sure not going to photographically highlight, haha!! but our needs are covered and that’s what matters! 🙂
